"Somebody Stop Me!"

So, we decided to weigh in again tonight just out of morbid curiosity and find out if Keller's put on any more weight. After doing the hold and subtract method on our bathroom scale, we were shocked to find that he's already up to 13 lbs. now after that post from last week.

I'm genuinely concerned I'm going to wake up one of these nights and find him in the kitchen making himself a turkey sandwich and eating a stick of butter then washing it all down with a glass of whole milk.

Big Babies and a New Job

Ok, I realize these two things have nothing to do with each other but they're both on my mind so I figured I'd lump them together.

Keller visited a new pediatrician this past week as a 6 week old. Ok, so keep in mind he weighed 6 lbs when we brought him home from the hospital and this was 6 weeks later to the day. Our little man weighed in at 11 lbs. 9 oz. He's been gaining almost a pound a week. Crazy. The doctor laughed when he realized how much weight he'd gained. This kind of growth keeps in line with the only other baby in our family. My sweet niece Zoe is consistently in the highest percentiles for growth. Currently she's in the 99th for height and 95th for weight. (pics of her are in a recent post) So, we're realizing that us Kellers make big babies. :)

This coming Monday Justin starts a new job! We are THRILLED. We think this job will finally provide the stability he / we have been needing. He'll be the Creative Director for a company called Island One / Club Navigo. From what I understand (he'll have to expound) he'll be managing two teams - one for website development and one for print material development all for marketing purposes. He'll also be able to use his video and photography skills. This company manages vacation resorts and timeshares. One of the perks is that some bonuses are given as stays in their resorts. WOO - HOO!! :)

My spoiled days of Justin working from home are over. I knew they'd have to come to an end at some point but I'm still sad to see him leave. We've been so blessed to have him around during Keller's first few weeks of life.

Coffee, Nightmares, and Anger Management

What up. I'm taking a break from eating Oreos and  ice cream, which is my break from watching Overnight Delivery, which is my break from working.

OK, so I have to confess that I was a little like "yeah, yeah, yeah" with all of the comments to the tune of "sleep now while you can" previous to Keller being born. I mean, it's a baby, how hard can it be? He eats, poops, and sleeps, right?

Wrong. This kid fights sleep like it's the plague. He wills himself to squirm and fuss and wriggle out of the warm embrace of slumber. It's almost like it's painful for him. Which in turn means that we've had 6 weeks of the worst sleep of our lives. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here with a lot of you, but I just can't get over it. I basically fall asleep long enough to have nightmares of hard drive failure only to be woken by grunting and squealing. This is followed by either a feeding or an hour of rocking, or both. My torn rotator cuff hurts more now than it did during baseball season. When I stopped at Starbucks this morning to order my Red Eye and the inappropriately chipper girl over the intercom said "Good morning", I actually replied "Is it?" While driving, I sometimes contemplate running into a telephone pole so that I can get just enough of a concussion that would allow me a couple pleasant hours of night night. At the gas station, I saw gas over $4.05 and I punched an elderly lady in the face. I held a paperclip in my teeth and then stuck the other end in an outlet just to keep myself awake for an extra hour in the middle of the afternoon. Two days ago Beth says "Justin, when are you coming to bed?" and I said "Who the heck is Justin?"

How much longer? How in God's good name can this kid survive if he burns more calories writhing around than he takes in? Can we hook him up to a generator and power the Southeast part of the US?

Hey, remember that one baby...... Keller?

Hey there. So I'm taking a break from eating peanut butter and ice cream with a fork, which was my break from restoring my hard drive after my computer melted down 6 hours ago, which was a break from what started as a fairly productive day. Oh, this is Justin by the way.

Any who, our friends Danny and Liz just had their baby a few hours ago at the same hospital we delivered at (don't look at their site too long. danny's design skills will make your eyes bleed). While they were there talking about the names they had picked out (Elliott Roman is a great one by the way, guys), their nurse made the comment about how 6 weeks ago there was a baby with "the coolest name - Keller".

We thought that was pretty fun. The poor little bugger has a sinus infection today, so it sounds like there's an excited baby pig in the next room.

And if anybody knows how to fix a Kernel Panic error on a PowerBook running OS X 10.5 and restore the archive created previous to re-installing the OS, while keeping the system library intact... can you call me?

Keller meets Keller Family

This past week my brother, sister-in-law and niece came down to meet Keller. It was such a great time! Keller loved meeting all of them but especially liked being held by his Aunt Ali. Some pics from our time:

4 weeks and Heidi's visit

Hi All!

I'm sure you can somewhat forgive us for the sparse posting. As I feel like I'm kind of coming out of the "twilight zone" I'll try my best to post more often.

So, Keller is 4 weeks old this week. Also this week my good friend Heidi came down for a few days to help out and it has been AMAZING. She has a 14 month old, is 6 months pregnant with her second and has been around kids her whole life. We've learned a lot the past few days which has been awesome. I've been nervous about getting out with the kid but leave it to having Heidi here to give me confidence. We went out to our first restaurant and had our first grocery shopping trip! I kept noticing all the things in our grocery store that have changed. It's amazing what you miss when you're at home for 4 weeks. :)

So I have a lot of pictures of Keller and of Heidi's visit. I hope you don't mind, I'm just going to throw them all on here.

Just one more note - THANK YOU so much for all your kind comments, e-mails, texts, phone calls etc. It has been so meaningful and encouraging to me to hear from so many of you.

Heidi's pregnant with a girl. We thought it was cute that Keller was checking her out. :)

Keller's First Video

It took me a little longer to get this finished than I had hoped, but here it is. I was just goofing around with my super simple point and shoot pocket video camera at the hospital (and totally wearing out my wife) and thought it would be fun to make a little ditty with it.

And that hand doin' all the fancy writing... no my friends, that is not CGI or green screen. That is all Carmen Roman. See Carmen, it was worth the 7 takes I made you do wasn't it?
